ST. LOUIS, MO – Kwame Building Group (KWAME) has completed construction of a $3.1 million, 0.53-mile segment of Great Rivers Greenway’s St. Vincent Greenway, from Trojan Park to Robert L. Powell Place in Wellston, MO. Work included demolishing existing sidewalks along the route and replacing them with a 10-foot-wide, multi-use paved path. A small pocket park, including a raised platform that overlooks native plantings along the banks of Engelholm Creek, was constructed to replace a vacant lot. A MetroBus stop with improved seating was also added near the MetroLink tracks.

Two Kwame team members, Project Engineer Michael McClain and Senior Project Manager Stan Richardson were among the 43 graduates of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Construction Leadership Institute (CLI), which celebrated with a graduation ceremony on Friday, March 10.

Developed by the SIUE Schools of Business and Engineering, the CLI provides the knowledge, skills and strategies that individuals and companies need in today’s challenging construction industry. Program Co-Directors Chris Gordon, associate dean of the SIUE School of Engineering, and Kristine Jarden, director of executive education in the SIUE School of Business, oversaw the ceremony.

ST. LOUIS, MO – Kwame Building Group (KWAME) has completed the first portion of installation of a new public art exhibit that will eventually link a one-mile stretch of the Brickline Greenway from Harris-Stowe State University to St. Louis CITY SC’s CITYPARK Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri. The permanent exhibit features art that acknowledges the 1959 displacement of nearly 20,000 Black residents of the Mill Creek Valley neighborhood formerly located at the site.

Memorial is at the site of the Dred Scott Case in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO – Kwame Building Group (KWAME) has completed the Freedom Suits Memorial to honor enslaved plaintiffs who sued for their freedom. The memorial is located at the Old Courthouse in St. Louis where the Dred Scott Case was tried. KWAME served as the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR).

ST. LOUIS, MO – Kwame Building Group (KWAME) has been selected as Program Manager for the $210 million expansion and modernization of the Cervantes Convention Center at The America’s Center (AC Next Gen) in St. Louis, Missouri. The expansion and modernization is designed to make the convention center more competitive in attracting larger events and increase the center’s impact as an economic and employment driver for the region. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. The lead architect is Fentress Architects. Z&L Wrecking, JH Berra and Ben Hur Construction have been selected so far to provide construction services.
