University City School District Prop U Bond Program

The School District of University City’s Proposition U (Prop U) Bond Program is a $65 million, zero-tax-rate-increase bond initiative approved by voters in April 2024 with overwhelming community support. The program was created to address critical facility needs throughout the district while enhancing educational opportunities, student safety, infrastructure, and athletic facilities. As one of the largest capital improvement investments in the District’s history, Prop U represents a long-term commitment to creating modern, innovative learning environments for current and future generations of students.

As the District’s Program Manager, KWAME Building Group, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout of projects included in the bond program. Working closely with District leadership, architects, engineers, contractors, and community stakeholders, KWAME provides comprehensive program management services to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with the District’s educational and operational goals.

Several projects have already been completed or are currently underway throughout the District. Improvements include new playgrounds at Jackson Park and Pershing Elementary Schools, secure entry vestibules and enhanced security systems at multiple campuses, a hydroponic container garden and outdoor learning opportunities at University City High School, athletic facility upgrades, and various infrastructure improvements that support safe and efficient school operations.
