ST. LOUIS – Anthony Thompson, president and CEO of Kwame Building Group, Inc. has received Washington University’s 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award. The Distinguished Alumni Award award program annually recognizes a few Washington University alumni with outstanding professional achievement, public service, exceptional service to Washington University or all three. Thompson, who earned a master’s degree in civil engineering from Washington University in 1999, was honored for his achievement in construction and project management, advocacy of minority and female-oriented businesses, and the leadership and service he gives to St. Louis.
ST. LOUIS, MO – Kwame Building Group (KWAME) has been selected as a general architectural and engineering consultant for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). As a subcontractor of AECOM/STV, KWAME will provide on-call engineering and construction support for WMATA’s transit system, which serves the greater Washington D.C. area. KWAME will provide services in the areas of program management, construction management and engineering support.

ST. LOUIS, MO – Jonathan Cohen has joined Kwame Building Group, Inc. (KWAME) as a Civil Inspector. In this role, Cohen will work on Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) projects to monitor the installation of sewer lines and tunnel work as part of MSD’s Project Clear initiative to improve water quality and alleviate wastewater concerns in the St. Louis region.

ST. LOUIS, MO – The Kwame Foundation raised more than $50,000 at its 16th Annual Golf Tournament at Top Golf in Chesterfield, MO on August 29th. Proceeds will fund scholarships for first-generation, college-bound students at Washington University, Maryville University, Saint Louis University and the University of Kansas and several others. Since 2003, the foundation has endowed over $1.5 million in scholarships and grants at over 12 different universities.

ST. LOUIS, MO – Chris Donovan, AC has joined Kwame Building Group, Inc. (KWAME) as a project engineer. Donovan’s responsibilities include project budgeting and estimating, contractor and subcontractor communications, site management and responding to RFI’s and submittals for select projects in the Seattle, WA area.
ST. LOUIS, MO – Derrick Stanton has joined Kwame Building Group, Inc. (KWAME) as civil inspector. Stanton’s responsibilities include inspecting construction sites for KWAME’s infrastructure, transportation and commercial projects.
ST. LOUIS, MO – Kwame Building Group (KWAME) has received the American Concrete Paving Association (ACPA) Excellence in Concrete Paving Award for taxiway and runway rehabilitation work at St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL). KWAME, via their joint venture with HR Green, Inc., provided project management for the $9.7 million, multi-phase project, which included reconstruction of taxiways known as Sierra and Kilo and the rehabilitation of runway 12L-30R. The ACPA Missouri/Kansas Chapter selected the project as the best cement concrete rehabilitation project completed in the state of Missouri in 2018. The awards program recognizes high-quality workmanship, quality and creativity in concrete pavement projects.
