ST. LOUIS PUBLIC SCHOOLS – PROP S IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
The St. Louis Public School District selected KWAME to provide construction management services for a $155 million district-wide school building repair and facility improvement program. Funding was provided through the Proposition S bond issue passed in 2010.
Most buildings in the district were more than 75 years old, some more than 100 years old. The program included upgrades to classrooms, science labs, libraries, auditoriums, cafeterias, restrooms, sports facilities, playgrounds, parking areas and building systems.
KWAME assembled a construction management team including Jacobs Engineering, Arcturis, Hudson and Associates, and PGAV Planners to develop and implement a master plan, construction, diversity initiatives, student engagement and community outreach. Delivery includes a blend of design-bid-build and design-build approaches.
As construction manager, KWAME reviewed designs, prepared schedules and estimates, analyzing life-cycle costs, updated budgets, oversaw the bid process, recommended construction contract awards, provided on-site management and other services.
