Memorial is at the site of the Dred Scott Case in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO – Kwame Building Group (KWAME) has completed the Freedom Suits Memorial to honor enslaved plaintiffs who sued for their freedom. The memorial is located at the Old Courthouse in St. Louis where the Dred Scott Case was tried. KWAME served as the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR).

ST. LOUIS, MO – The Kwame Foundation has awarded $75,000 in higher education scholarships for first-generation, college-bound students from proceeds raised at the organization’s 18th Annual golf tournament. The presenting sponsor was Maggie O’Brien’s.

Since 2003, Kwame Foundation has provided multi-year endowed scholarships for students at 27 colleges or universities throughout the United States. Scholarships funded by the golf tournament have been endowed for students to attend Fontbonne University, Lincoln University, Maryville University, Saint Louis University, Southeast Missouri State University, University of Kansas and Washington University.

ST. LOUIS, MO – Kwame Foundation will host its 18th Annual Golf Tournament on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Norman K. Probstein Golf Course at Forest Park. This year the theme is “Tee Off ‘FORE’ Education”. Proceeds will fund scholarships for students who otherwise might not attend college because of financial constraints.

ST. LOUIS, MO – Kwame Building Group (KWAME) has been selected as Program Manager for the $210 million expansion and modernization of the Cervantes Convention Center at The America’s Center (AC Next Gen) in St. Louis, Missouri. The expansion and modernization is designed to make the convention center more competitive in attracting larger events and increase the center’s impact as an economic and employment driver for the region. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. The lead architect is Fentress Architects. Z&L Wrecking, JH Berra and Ben Hur Construction have been selected so far to provide construction services.

ST. LOUIS, MO – Kwame Building Group (KWAME) has been selected as the Construction Manager for a $88 million expansion of St. Louis Community College’s (STLCC) Wildwood campus. The project includes construction of a new Center for Health Sciences and a new Center for Technology and other building renovations. The Wildwood campus project is part of $400 million in construction initiatives across STLCC’s campuses to modernize learning environments and support the metropolitan region’s workforce needs and economy. The projects are funded by an eight-cent property tax levy increase approved by voters in August 2021.

Kwame Building Group ranked second out of 75 companies on the St. Louis Business Journals Corporate Philanthropists – Small Companies List. KWAME contributed $150,000 in local cash contributions and $500,000 in in-kind contributions locally.
The 75 honorees featured on the St. Louis Business Journal’s Biggest Corporate Philanthropists Lists invested more than $127 million in St. Louis communities in 2021. More than that, 46 of those 75 companies donated 77,000 volunteer hours and found other creative ways to assist those in need. Kwame Building Group team members contributed 180 hours of volunteer work in the local area.
